when I was first trying to do more photoreal paintings I was having trouble keeping things in proportion during the sketch phase. I then remembered most realistic paintings are lightly traced, so i started adding guide lines to my reference pictures.
Lightly edited photos I took of plants I grew on a white background. The guild lines are traced during the initial sketching
